Organic ecological recovery of desertified areas in mid- and downstream regions of Shiyanhe and establishment of key technologies and a standard system

During a visit of FCPAE to China, 22-26 Dec 2003, IRIT-ARI had initiated a program on organic ecology in Gansu province, China. The program aims at recovery of arid areas in Shiyanghe, a desertified region in Gansu, western China, by organic means. Five academies and universities in China are going to jointly carry out the program, i.e. Gansu Academy of Agricultural Sciences, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Gansu Jiaotong University, Gansu Agricultural University and Gansu Science and Engineering University. 

Several sectors, both scientific and technology and industrial, joined the RTD program. The multidisciplinary RTD group include several domains such as biology, environment, agriculture, forestry, soil, ecology, economy and policy making. The government of Gansu province, and the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Agriculture, the Ministry of Forestry of China are underway to evaluate the proposal and support this program.
